How Infrared Saunas Work

Traditional Saunas raise the temperature of the air in order to warm the body. Infrared saunas work differently. Instead of heating the air within the enclosure, far-infrared (FIR) saunas emit wavelengths that heat the body directly. Because the rays are absorbed directly into the body, one can sweat at less intense temperatures than a traditional sauna (100-130°F vs. 185-195°F)  All life requires FIR heat from the sun. FIR heat is not ultraviolet radiation but a narrow band of energy. This type of energy travels 2-3” deep into the body to increase circulation and nourish damaged tissue.  Infrared heaters in the sauna warm the body in the same manner as natural sunlight and for years has been recommended by the healthcare industry.

Benefits of the Infrared Sauna

Detoxification:  Two to three times more sweat is produced which increases detoxification through the skin which takes a load off the liver and kidneys.

Pain Relief:  Heat penetrates 2-3” to bring relief to muscle and joint pains. Increased circulation and oxygen supply promotes faster healing.

Weight Loss:  Heart rate, cardiac output, and metabolic rate increases. You can burn up to 600 calories in 30 minutes.

Improves Skin:  Sweating carries off impurities and dead skin cells. Skin tone and elasticity is improved. Also good for clearing acne, eczema, psoriasis, and roughness.

Boosts Immunity:  Shortens recovery time from colds and flu.

Clears Cellulite: Helps clear cellulite through sweating and detoxification.

Overall Health:  Our bodies absorb infrared rays from the sun which is necessary for health and well being. If we don’t get enough sun, a sauna is a good alternative.
